Recently, the 2025 Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) was convened in New Orleans, USA. As one of the world’s largest and most influential academic conferences in the field of Earth and space sciences, this year’s gathering brought together tens of thousands of Earth science researchers from across the globe to exchange cutting-edge academic achievements and explore directions for disciplinary development. With the aim of promoting the latest research outcomes of Earth Sciences at Zhejiang University (ZJU) and enhancing its international academic influence, a delegation from ZJU’s School of Earth Sciences, led by faculty members including Wu Sensen, Zhang Zhou, and Zhu Shupeng, and consisting of more than ten graduate students, traveled to the United States to participate in this prestigious international academic event.

During the conference, the members of School of Earth Sciences arranged an elaborately designed exhibition booth. Through various forms such as poster displays, on-site presentations, and interactive exchanges, the delegation systematically introduced the development landscape of Zhejiang University and the School of Earth Sciences, attracting extensive inquiries and in-depth discussions from scholars both at home and abroad. Participating faculty and students actively provided professional responses to the questions raised, effectively facilitating academic communication.

The members of School of Earth Sciences delivered oral reports and presented posters at multiple thematic sessions, engaging in in-depth and constructive discussions with international counterparts. Their presentations garnered enthusiastic responses, fully demonstrating the remarkable achievements and distinctive features of ZJU’s Earth Sciences in interdisciplinary research.
In the meantime, the School conducted fruitful interactions with its alumni based in the United States. Current faculty and students updated the alumni on the latest developments of the School, conveying sincere care and greetings, while also gaining a comprehensive understanding of the alumni’s professional growth and notable accomplishments.

The AGU Fall Meeting is not only a prominent platform for showcasing academic achievements but also a vital venue for establishing cooperative partnerships and inspiring innovative ideas. Through face-to-face exchanges with scholars from renowned overseas universities and research institutions, the faculty and students of the School have further broadened their international academic perspectives, laying a solid foundation for future scientific research cooperation and joint student training initiatives.
