CHEN Shupeng (1920-2008)


Chen Shupeng was the founder of remote sensing and geographic information system studies in China, an expert in geography, cartography and remote sensing application. Prof.Chen was born in Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province in 1920. He graduated from Zhejiang University in 1941 and received his master degree from the university in 1947. He was elected as Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) in 1980 and fellow of the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS) in 1992.

 


DAI Jinxing (1935- )


Dai Jinxing was born on March 19, 1935 in Rui'an County, Zhejiang Province. He graduated from Department of Geology, Nanjing University in 1961. He was a Guest Professor at Zhejiang University, expert in Petroleum Geology and Geochemistry, a leader of Petroleum Geology of China, respected as the father of natural gas in China. He was elected as member of Chinese Academy of Science in 1995. He presented the theory that coal series is the better industrial hydrocarbon source rocks. Dai Jinxing developed the study of exploitation of coal-formed gases and proposed the model of coal-derived hydrocarbon, models of gas reservoir and methods on identification of natural gas reservoir. 

 

 


DING Zhongli (1957- )


Ding Zhongli was born in Zhejiang Province in 1957. He graduated from Department of Geology, Zhejiang University in 1982, and obtained his doctoral degree in Quaternary Geology and Paleoclimate from Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS). He was elected as member of CAS in 2005, and fellow of the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS) in 2006. He is the Vice President of CAS, the Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC), and the 12th Chairman of the Central Committee of China Democratic League (CDL). He is also the board member of the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD).

 

 


JIN Xianglong (1934- )


Jin Xianglong worked in Second Institute of Oceanography and was elected as member of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1997. He is one of the founders of submarine scientific research and was engaged in the exploration and study of submarine resources in China’s marginal seas. He put forward important ideas on the marginal seas structure of China, crust evaluation and nature and evolution model of China's marginal seas.

 

 


PENG Ping'an (1960- )


Peng Ping'an was born in Tiantai, Zhejiang Province in 1960. He received BSc in geology from Zhejiang University in 1982, and Ph.D. from Institute of geochemistry, Chinese academy of sciences in 1991. He was the Deputy Director of Guangzhou institute of geochemistry, Chinese academy of sciences. He was elected a CAS Member in 2013. He was awarded the first-class National Natural Science Prize, First Prize of CAS Science & Technology Progress Award etc. He has published more than 200 papers (among which 104 are published on SCI-indexed journals), and his work was cited by other scholars in SCI-indexed journals for more than 600 times. 

 


TANG Zhongli (1934- )


Tang Zhongli was born in Anqing, Anhui Province in 1934. He graduated from China University of Geosciences(Beijing). He was a visiting professor at Zhejiang University. He is an expert on mineral exploration, Geologist of mineral deposits. Pro.Tang was elected the member of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1995. He has long been engaged in mineral exploration and the study of geology and mineral resources. Pro.Tang made a great contribution to discover Jin chuan nickel mine and explore buried ore bodies of Jin chuan nickel mine.

 


XU Shizhe (1936-2012)


Xu Shizhe was born in Taizhou, Zhejiang on October 2, 1936 and graduated from Changchun College of Geology in 1956. Xu spent his entire career as researcher and professor at Zhejiang University. His area of specialization is geophysics. He was one of the first to apply the boundary element method in geophysical exploration. Xu Shizhe has long been engaged in geophysical research and teaching work and has numerous outstanding achievements in the field of computational geophysics. He creatively proposed the method of constructing conformal transformation of coordinate net to correct the impact of terrain of geophysical field. He was elected to the Academy of Sciences in 2001.

 


XU Yigang (1966- )


Xu Yigang was born in October 1966. He received his bachelor's degree in geology from Zhejiang University in 1987 and Ph.D. in geology from University of Paris VII in 1994. He is currently research professor with Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences (GIGCAS) and has been President of GIGCAS since 2010. Dr. Xu is a member of the LIP Committee of IAVCEI and a member of the Hot Spot Dynamics Committee of IODP, Associate Chairman of CSMPG, and Associate Editor of Chinese Science Bulletin. Dr. Xu was admitted to the CAS Program for 100 Outstanding Scientists in 2003. Dr. Xu is mainly specialized in mantle petrology, geochemistry and earth interior dynamics. He was elected a CAS Member in 2017.
